Description
I recall some years ago entering a Miners’ Library. It was somewhere in the Rhondda, a majestic building with a presence of great learning. A long time ago, I made a sketch and linked this to my trip to the Rhondda. The print made for MinersImprint is a development of the sketch. It depicts a miner. The miner is singing or possibly shouting for help – his light is bright and hopeful, so he will be saved. The mine runs through his veins and those of his forefathers. Although he is cybernetic (human organism and mechanical), he has full emotions connecting him with community, family, life and death. Hence the title, ‘In the Blood’.
