This is a process-driven workshop to learn the practical steps to successfully transferring a photographic image to a screen
The following elements of the process will be covered by the course
- Preparing a transparency from a suitable photograph. Please notethere will be no opportunity to manipulate this image digitally during the workshop so you will need to provide an image ready to reproduce
- You can provide an image already on transparent film / or make a direct transparency on our photocopier from a black and white paper copy of the photograph
- Selection of screen with appropriate screen mesh for the design
- Degreasing and preparing the screen
- Mixing up the Azocol photographic medium
- Setting up the coating trough
- Coating the screen
- Using the drying cupboard with appropriate drying times that will not damage the screen
- Using the UV Exposure Unit | preparing the unit
- Setting up the design and the screen
- Exposure times
- Washout and development of the screen
- Drying times
- Setting up the printing area
- Selecting papers
- Mixing inks | storage
- Use of the squeegee
- Printing your image
- Cleaning the screens correctly and thoroughly

Bring along some protection for your clothes.
