Suitable for beginners.
Inspired by the work of American printmaker and designer Ryan McGinnis, Rose’s workshop will explore several simple ways of making a printed image and then choose sections to make into badges, finally composing these badges onto a small canvas to create a specific artwork.
Ryan McGinnis’ works with thousands of screenprinted images and uses some of these to create large canvasses covered with badges, so each tiny original artwork becomes part of the new work of art.
During the day we will make images with monotype, gel plate and botanical prints. We’ll choose sections to cut and make into badges and we’ll look at how to group these onto individual canvasses to compose a unique work of art. The badges can be moved to create different images on the canvasses and can be unpinned and worn too.
