Friday 6 June | 2025 | 10.00 – 4.30 | 8 places
£70 Full/Keyholder member | £80 Ordinary Member | £90 Non-member
Please NOTE: this workshop requires an Advanced Level of printmaking experience.
Vinita will cover a wide range of image making using the “reductive transparent stacked” monotype technique. Mark making, inking, image preparation, and various methods in wiping of the surface plate will be discussed.
Monotype is a unique print made by means that permits only one impression. An image is made using inks on a non-absorbent surface such as Plexiglas. The image is then transferred to paper with the use of an etching press. There are many ways to make monotypes.
In this workshop, students will learn the multi-plate transparent layering technique. Three or more inks will be made transparent, printing will be done as each colour is applied to the entire plate and wiped off by the artist. The final result is achieved by “stacking” or “layering” transparent inks, as the plate passes through the press each time.
About the Artist
Vinita is an Artist, Educator and Printmaker.
Born in the vibrant cultural heart of New Delhi, India, Vinita Voogd’s journey into the world of art began at the tender age of six — an age when most children are still discovering crayons. Encouraged by a close-knit family of bankers, business professionals and engineers, she boldly declared her future: she would be an artist. Summers spent sketching with her grandfather laid the foundation for a lifelong devotion to visual expression.
Vinita earned her formal training at the esteemed College of Art, University of Delhi, and later moved to California in 1981. There, she deepened her passion for printmaking, studying under influential artists such as John Paul Jones at UCI and with Willian Riley. Since 1982, she has dedicated herself to the practice of fine art printmaking, building a career that bridges continents and cultures.
After a fulfilling teaching career, Vinita retired from her position as a printmaking instructor at Golden West College. Her educational contributions have extended beyond the classroom through workshops at institutions and print studios across the globe. She has completed artist residencies in both Paris and Venice and was recently invited to lead workshops in Wales, UK – testaments to her growing international presence.
A former President of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society, Vinita continues to shape and support the art community through her active roles on non-profit boards. Her current work explores the expressive power of texture and color, using bold graphic shapes, to weave memories of childhood, family ties, landscape and global travels into visually poetic narratives.
Vinita lives and works in Mission Viejo, California, where she maintains a private print studio — her sanctuary of creativity and exploration.
