Description

My great-grandfather, John Hopkins (1851–1942) known as John Y Gof, was a blacksmith and worked at Garn Goch Colliery, close to his home in Cadle, Swansea.

He was deeply religious, and a deacon at Bethlehem Chapel.

The chapel was central to the lives of my Welsh-speaking family at that time.
