MiniPrint Cymru | Wales | News & Activities

MiniPrint Cymru | Wales is a Wales-wide initiative. In 2025/26, artists and printmakers are encouraged to take part by submitting small-scale work.

The four Regional Partners will also be running Community Participation workshops. More information on the Regional Partners can be found here.

We share highlights of activity and news across the regions below.

JULY 2025 | Regional Partners News & Activities Round-up

It’s fantastic to see all the community activity happening in the Regions; printmakers working with a variety of community and education groups.

Below are some of the lovely responses from these workshop participants who are enjoying the opportunity to learn and experience different printmaking techniques, and to create mini prints.

What did you enjoy about the workshop?

The reveal of the results | The whole experience | The end result! | Learning the whole process was something new for me. I found it very interesting. | I took myself by surprise. The image I made was totally spontaneous and the final result was beyond my expectations | Being with other people, seeing what they were doing. Learning a new technique | Amazing, rewarding, very well taught. I loved it all! | A lot of fun and very interesting | Being creative. Learning new techniques. The use of plants and natural elements | Using natural plants and learning new things | It was a wonderful session | Loved it. Great group of people | The sharing of knowledge and working in an environment with other artists | The freedom to experiment | Very therapeutic and calming, and there was a great sense of accomplishment in taking something from start to finish.

Royal Cambrian Academy of Art

Participants on RCA’s first community group workshop worked with botanicals using the cyanotype technique.

Participants enjoyed: “the whole experience | Being creative. Learning new techniques. The use of plants and natural elements. | The reveal of the results.”

“The participants seemed to enjoy the challenge of working on smaller scale prints. There was lots of fun and laughter, everyone was very supportive to each other. We also had a mindful nature walk in the woods which everyone commented they really enjoyed. I already have some of the participants wanting to come back for a masterclass which is wonderful news.” Justine Montford, Lead Artist Cyanotype, Open Community workshop

RCA is continuing to offer community workshops during July.

Aberystwyth Printmakers

Aberystwyth Printmakers’ first community group workshop was with the Art and Friendship, Hospice at Home group. This was the first experience of printmaking for the participants who worked with linocut with chine collé.

“They were all pleasantly surprised at their resulting prints. They found the whole process totally absorbing and relaxing. One person said it took all her worries away and another that the outcome was far beyond her expectations. All the feedback was very positive.” Jenny Fell, Lead Artist

“I took myself by surprise. The image I made was totally spontaneous and the final result was beyond my expectations. | Amazing, rewarding, very well taught. I loved it all!”   Participants, Hospice at Home, Art and Friendship Group

Aberystwyth Printmakers have now delivered all four community group workshops in various techniques including multiblock linocut and stone lithography. They are also offering a cost-recovery workshop in wood engraving in July to encourage membership to create mini prints.

Regional Print Centre

The Regional Print Centre have completed their community workshops offering Coleg Cambria students and RPC Developers the opportunity to learn and experience a wide range of techniques: lino cut, drypoint, mono printing, screenprinting – paper stencils, collagraph.

“It was a wonderful session Loved it | Great group of people | [I enjoyed] the access to tools and materials, the sharing of knowledge and working in an environment with other artists.” Participants, Collagraph Workshop, RPC developers

Swansea Print Workshop

Artists from SPW have now delivered a number of community workshops through ACW and Swansea Council funding. Their  final community and cost-recovery workshops will take place by mid-July.

“[I] found the process very therapeutic and calming, and there was a great sense of accomplishment in taking something from start to finish. | Loved the opportunity to be a pupil rather than a teacher.  And to try a new skill.” Participants, Coed Lleol/Small Woods staff

JUNE 2025 | Regional Partners News & Activities Round-Up

The community workshops have begun to take place across the regions with The Regional Print Centre first to deliver a workshop in March with students from Coleg Cambria.

… Our first workshop went well … the [participants] really enjoyed the day and … went away having learned more about lino printing and registration. Nigel Morris, RPC, re Coleg Cambria Students Workshop

RPC have delivered further workshops in May to the students and RPC developers in various printmaking techniques.

Swansea Print Workshop (website link here) have been connecting through Swansea Council, Swansea University and others to work with local groups in May including Eureka and  Adferiad groups …

And with the Mums and Toddlers Foundation:

Today’s art session was truly incredible — such a mentally refreshing experience! Stepping away from the usual routine of work, kids, and house chores to try something new was exactly what I needed. It was a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with myself and explore my creative side. Workshop Participant, Mums and Toddlers Foundation

SPW have also begun delivering workshops through their Annual Workshop programme with a number of lead artists.

A great range of techniques have been offered by the Regional Partners so far – linocut, cyanotype, monoprinting, collagraph, drypoint, screenprinting – showing the versatility of printmaking and how different techniques can easily be applied to working in small scale.

Royal Cambrian delivered their first community workshop at the end of the month and further community workshops are planned during June in all regions with some additional cost-recovery workshops being offered by Swansea Print Workshop and Aberystwyth Printmakers.
