In 2025 we celebrated 25 years – a huge milestone for a small organisation!
In 2025, through a number of special activities and events, we celebrated and showcased the creativity and energy of our members and visiting artists who have contributed to the amazing printmaking that has taken place at 19a Clarence Street over the years.
We also offered our usual exciting and varied Workshop Programme, exhibited members’ work and led MiniPrint Cymru | Wales collaborating with Regional Partners in 2025/26. We were also pleased to award our Rosy Ind Bursary Award for Emerging Printmakers.
As a volunteer-led, not-for-profit organisation without core funding, the support of our volunteers and members has been key to our journey to where we are now.
Since the very beginning, SPW has been very community-focused – not just the printmaking community but the wider creative and local community. We encourage everyone to make prints!
In About Us and our Archives you can find out how SPW began, its ethos and all the fantastic projects that we have delivered over the years including our other milestone anniversary – 15 Years People and Printmaking.

Exhibition at Oriel Q, Narberth | 16 May – 5 July 2025.
We were delighted to be invited to exhibit work at this highly regarded venue. We showcased work by members and invited artists who regularly lead workshops in the Studio, celebrated printmaking and prints, and shared the story of what we do @SPW.
A copy of the members’ artist book (See below) was on display alongside a special MinersImprint boxset. Additional work by members was displayed in the Gallery browsers.
Also shown were video films telling the story of SPW together with video demonstrations of printmaking techniques by some of our popular lead artists. Read more about the Exhibition here.

Artist Book Project
A members’ only opportunity initiated and led by members. 23 member artists took part, each producing an image in black and white around the theme of Swansea. More about the Artist Book Project here.
The book was bound on a concertina format and ‘expands’ to a length of 4 metres on display. The book was first exhibited in the 25-Years Exhibition at Oriel Q Gallery, Narberth. It can now be viewed on request at 19a Clarence Street.

Members Group Print Days | 16 July 2025 and 12 October 2025
Our Group Print Days are something very special which are open to our members only. Sarah Hopkins was the lead artist on both collaborative print days. The days are lots of fun, as well as hard work!
Participants worked on 10cm x 10cm blocks which were printed together to make one large-scale, fantastic collaborative print.
Each participant took home a print from the edition with SPW retaining one for our archives. More photos on this and previous Group Print Days can be viewed on Members Group Print Days.
The theme for the first day print day was “Shorelines”.

For the second group print day, the theme was on “The Built Environment”.

MinersImprint at Queen Street Gallery, Neath | 1–29 March 2025.
We were delighted to be able to show MinersImprint again at the wonderful Queen Street Gallery in Neath. These 21 prints were created through a collaboration between SPW and Swansea University to celebrate the South Wales Miner’s Library 50th anniversary. Prints by Paul Peter Piech and artwork by Hilary Powell, produced by the Josef Herman Art Foundation Cymru were also featured. Read more about MinersImprint project.

MiniPrint Cymru | Wales | A Wales-wide, collaborative initiative created to raise the profile of printmaking in Wales. Alongside artists across Wales, SPW members and the wider artist community in Swansea and south Wales were invited to submit small-scale prints for an exhibition in 2025 at Mission Gallery, Swansea and in 2026 at Mostyn, Llandudno.
Swansea Print Workshop led the project throughout 2025 working with Regional Partners across Wales.
