The ‘All About Me’ Photographic Project was an exploration of identity devised and taught by Gaynor Hansen-Jones and facilitated by SPW.
The 8-week-long project worked with people who attend community centres and who specifically suffer with mental health problems. The project concept was developed to explore personal and cultural identity.
“Mental health is either ignored or invisible in society and the theme of the mirror was set to challenge this. The project was split into two sections to enable the participants to challenge invisibility both collectively and personally. Visits were made to galleries and into the town using mirrors as a tool to explore their ideas. The mirrors were then used to explore more personal themes”

The group was led by Gaynor, a regular and experienced contributor to the DACE programme of photography courses which were held at 19a Clarence Street over a number of years, and assisted by printmaker Kara Seaman.
Members of the group used mirrors to explore reflection and displacement.
Participants worked with the cyanotype technique – a “cross-over” process between photography and printmaking – which can be used on fabric, canvas or paper.
The final project work was exhibited throughout Sept 2005 and the images were put onto a self-portraiture website
This project took place in 2005 and was made possible with funding from the Swansea Arts Forum Trust.
