Clean and tidy
SPW is entirely volunteer-led so we ask all our users to support the organisation by leaving the studio clean and tidy after their OA session ready for the next person.
The kitchen area is equipped with kettle, microwave and fridge for lunch breaks.
Please note that we operate a recycling policy for waste. As we don’t have any outdoor storage, and rubbish is collected fortnightly, we ask that you take ALL food waste away with you.
Collecting your Artwork from the Studio
Please NOTE: If artwork is not collected from the Studio following Open Access sessions, workshops, an exhibition or other event or activity within a reasonable period of time (usually 8 weeks maximum) and/or following notification/requests for the item to be collected, we reserve the right to either dispose of or sell as donated artwork towards our funds.
All members are responsible for their own artwork in the Studio. We have limited storage space and are volunteer-run so we do not have to the capacity to manage artwork which is left uncollected longer than a reasonable time period. (e.g. to dry).
Library
We have a well-stocked Library which we welcome you to browse for information and inspiration.
In the Library you will find a range of publications including those on techniques, on printmakers and artists, design and printmaking exhibitions. You can also find previous SPW publications and catalogues here.
Please remember all books and publications are for use in the Studio only and not to take away.
Dropping-in
We value being part of the artistic community and we love you to visit and bring visitors to the studio to have a look around, enjoy a cup of tea and bring work in, or browse through the work on show and for sale.
Unfortunately, because we are entirely staffed by volunteers, our doors can’t always be open. To avoid disappointment, we suggest you check in first through the members’ WhatsApp group or if you particularly want to view prints, that you email us first to arrange a time. See Keeping in Touch for all the ways you can contact us.
Parking
There are three zones of one hour parking immediately adjacent to the workshop –this means you have to move to the next zone every hour as you are not allowed to return within three hours. On the far side of the Vetch field there is a three-hour zone. It is a short walk through the old Vetch field to the studio.
Swansea Council often run special schemes to encourage visitors to the City Centre. For example, a cheap all-day rate in the very centre of the city. Details can be found on Swansea Council website.
