  • Collagraph prints are based on collage-based plates built up from soft and flexible materials like string, textured papers, fabric. Each plate is an unique, hand built construction which is then inked and printed. Collagraphy is a versatile technique that allows you to experiment with a wide variety of materials adapted for different effects.

All materials and tools supplied. Please bring an image to work from e.g. a drawing you’ve made, photo on your phone, magazine image.

You will have access to a range of professional tools and printing papers

This process has the advantage of being able to make the printing plates at home, often from recycled materials and ‘found’ objects. This is a definite advantage when you move on to larger and more complicated projects. It also suits people who don’t particularly want to draw but love cutting and pasting texture.

You do need to have access to a press to get the best printing results as we use dampened thick printing paper to get beautiful textured prints

What to bring and prepare

Please bring an image to work from e.g. a drawing you’ve made, photo on your phone, magazine image, paper for drawing, pencils, pens, notebook. You will be working on an A4 size board

Start to look out for examples of soft and flexible materials e.g. cloth,  string, netting, embossed wallpapers, bubble wrap,  paper lace doilies, corrugated cardboard, rubber bands.

Bring along something to cover good clothes as it can get messy working with inks and glues.
