Our new website Swansea Printmakers not only charts the range of printmakers and artists who have supported us through the years. We owe an enormous amount to our sadly missed arts champion, Sybil Crouch. Her consistent support and encouragement and very informed advice really helped us to progress to where we are today. She gave us our first exhibition platform at Oriel Ceri Richards and continued to support our projects with an exhibition programmes featuring Dylan Thomas themes and our connections with Pakistani artists. It is more than a tragedy that this venue is no longer available to the Swansea community who supported it so loyally for all those years. It was invested with her enormous curiosity and generosity and openness for the arts in all its forms.
Coming up on Sunday November 1 our new on-line exhibition , Our Pakistan Connections. Sameera Khan, originally from Islamabad was Studio Manager for three years and she was the catalyst for a whole range of creative exchanges between our two cultures. Sarah Hopkins was our Project manager for a year of workshops, masterclasses, residencies and an extensive outreach programme to celebrate the Year of Muslim Culture in 2006.
This exhibition shows some of the work produced by our visiting artists, members and participants in workshops over the years as a result of these links and demonstrates how enriching this process was for all participants.
