Dear Members
We are hoping to get some of you back into printmaking at the studio using all the facilities there. In response to the latest guidelines from the Welsh Government we are preparing the studio for some restricted access for all members. This has to be done within all the safety advice available.
As always, our opening again depends entirely on our volunteer open access supervisors, some of whom are still in the very vulnerable category and are therefore not available for supervision for the foreseeable future.
Experienced printmakers Rose Davies and David La Grange have agreed to run the Tuesday and Thursday sessions on a limited basis for the time being
From July 14, we will be operating a restricted access by appointment only so we can manage the working areas as safely as possible.
Bookings will be taken entirely at the discretion of the supervisors and a week in advance
You can join the WhatsApp Members Booking Group by sending your mobile phone number to Rose Davies or David La Grange
Once you have joined you will be able to see the bookings in progress and the confirmed dates already taken and contact David and Rose directly to confirm any booking.
If you are not familiar with WhatsApp you would need to download the app onto your mobile phone. You will then have to email the mobile number you wish to use and you will receive an invite to join the group.
If you prefer to book by email, which may be slower then contact Rose Davies or David La Grange
The areas that are bookable 1. Screenprinting press/ screenprocessing/ exposure or cleaning of screens 2. Columbian relief press and inking area An etching press and inking area 3. Table-top screenprinting in the Drawing Room 4. Use of the computer and A3 scanner to scan work for sale for the website [if you are using this for the first time, book when David is on as he has prepared full notes for this] |
We have been concerned about the continuance of the Workshop as a result of the lockdown and the uncertainty of being fully operational again.
We do have continued overheads with utilities and insurance and maintenance. Our usual income from workshops and hire of the studio, life drawing has largely come to an end for the moment.
Due entirely to diligence of one of our directors, Alan Roberts, we were invited to apply for a government grant, eligible as company with charitable aims and a non profit organisation.
So the great news is we were awarded
£10,000
Well done Alan!!!!!
This has taken a lot of pressure off us in the immediacy of the moment.
There will be some discussion as to how this can best be used and all suggestion are welcome.
We have been Zoom meeting to discuss the way forward and make the best of the situation. We hope you will use the studio soon and we will use every accommodation we can to get people working safely.
If you are still in the vulnerable category and need to work completly isolated from others we will do our best to give you access to the workshop on that basis if you are competent to work on your own.
