open day sale of prints

Dear members and supporters

Many thanks to all those who attended the meeting on Sunday February 19 or sent messages indicating support for various activities. It was agreed to put a major effort into the one event rather than a number of smaller fundraising initiatives. This is now scheduled for the week beginning Saturday June 3 until Friday June 9. It was agreed to stage an intensive two days of exhibition and demonstrations of printing techniques followed by a week when the exhibition would be open.

The aims of the open days are

·   To raise the public profile of SPW

·   Demonstrate the range of activities on offer

·   Print sale for members

·   Fundraising

Members

This is an opportunity to showcase your work - drawings / prints/ cards etc. There will be room for some framed work but it will mostly be browsers and display boards.

All work needs to be protected in some way, fully labelled and priced for the event. There will be a 10% commission on all sales. It would help enormously if you could send a list of what you want to display in a word document so that it can be put straight in a catalogue and sales sheet. More detailed reminders will be sent out nearer the deadlines.

Meanwhile please see below the schedule of events and a breakdown of the preparation work that needs doing. Open access days are a good time to offer help.

Donated prints | members are invited to donate prints to the workshop. This is done on the understanding that they may be sold well below the gallery price as there is no commission involved. You can indicate a reserve price if you wish as a guide to us.

If you donate a print it would be helpful to have an image for the website.

If this is not available we can photograph these in the studio. We can accept these as soon as possible.

Swansea Print Workshop is not publicly funded and membership fees are our main – and vital – source of income. Without these, we could not continue and we are grateful for your support. We will keep you up to date on all our activities through newsletters and mailshots and you can choose to be involved in the running of the workshop.

Membership with Swansea Print Workshop allows access to our well-equipped printmaking studio for independent use during our Open Access sessions. It offers members opportunities to exhibit locally, nationally and internationally.

There are four levels of annual membership: Friends of SPW, Ordinary, Full and Keyholder. All attract a range of  benefits including eligibility to exhibit, discounted workshop fees and selling work through our Art Shop and On-line gallery. The higher the level of membership – the greater the benefits.

If you are not a member of Swansea Print Workshop you can still participate in our life drawing groups and workshops that we offer through our workshop programme. However, you will pay the non-discounted rate for these activities.
