Celebrating 20 Years of printmaking @ SPW includes work from some very young printmakers. We had the advantage of a terrific team in Swansea Council for many years with Carolyn Davies, Lynne Bebb and Caron McColl continuing a prestigious history of cultural support for schools in Swansea. Music, dance, creative writing were all part of their remit and this was supported for a time with some great drawing and print exhibitions at the Glynn Vivian. Their expertise was invaluable to an organisation such as ours with their in depth knowledge of local schools.

Carolyn was much missed for her input but she left a legacy of high professional expectations in the relationship between artist and teacher. Our collaborations always included the full experience of artist printmaker for the students – even the very young. Designing for print, printing by hand a small edition on some gorgeous paper, owning the print with signature and edition numbers and then finally exhibiting alongside our members in the annual exhibition.

New Traditions in Print |More recently we worked with Caron McColl and artist Nina Morgan to explore the opportunities of designing for print on the ipad. Great possibilities for really original work /drawing positive negative/ huge range of textures and brushes/ and transferring to screenprint techniques to print small editions and books. Hopefully we will be in a position to offer these workshops again in 2021

There is just a small selection of work from our outreach projects in our current exhibition 20 Years of printmaking @ SPW but we will be featuring more in the future. Click on the tag ‘outreach’ to select them all
