20 Years of printmaking and drawing @ Swansea Print Workshop
The exhibition illustrates a timeline of artistic activity and a journey of discovery and innovation through the medium of print.
Artists have worked with Swansea Print Workshop on many levels
Members | Invited Artists | Artists in residence | Workshop leaders |Workshop participants | Collaborative projects and exchanges | Exhibitions | Sponsors | Many artists from across Wales have helped along the way to raise funds. In 2000 there was a shortfall in the costs of refurbishing the building. Printmakers across Wales were asked to donate a print/ drawing and the necessary £5000 was raised. Others also gave work to the print auction held in 2004.
This is a collection of prints by some of these artists illustrating the breadth of creative opportunities offered by printmaking processes.
Printmaking methods continue to evolve both as a means to expand creative horizons and also as a movement away from the use of the toxic and harmful substances traditionally associated with etchants, inks and processing chemicals.
This on line exhibition is also a testament to those artists, staff and volunteers, past and present, whose contributions have made it possible to sustain this workshop over the twenty years of its history.
