Chronology of Exhibitions

2015

15 Years | People and Printmaking

The Arts Wing, Grand Theatre, Swansea | 24 November - 19 December 2015

Exhib-4-tiny

The exhibition held in the Arts Wing, Grand Theatre, Swansea was the final event of our 15th anniversary year. A celebration of original prints, it features the year’s work from Swansea pupils, young creators, and the local community alongside prints by invited artists and artist-members.

The Private View on Tuesday 24 November was an evening of celebration with the first showing of a special collaborative artists’ book – over 3 metres in length - and the launch of our beautiful Anniversary Publication.

The publication is a comprehensive full colour catalogue in Welsh and English which collects work from 50 Artists associated with the Workshop since 2000. Their work expresses what we believe: printmaking is inventive and individual; printmaking creates original, interesting and engaging visual art. It showcases the best of what we do.

deialogau DYLAN THOMAS dialogues

Ceri Richards Gallery | Taliesin Arts Centre | Swansea |February 22nd to March 30th 2014

The exhibition reveals artists’ responses to the theme ‘belonging’. Working with selected texts from Dylan Thomas and contemporary writers Rachel Trezise and Maggie Shipstead, winners of the international ‘Dylan Thomas Prize’, the printmakers journey to old haunts and make new discoveries of self and place.
They remember childhood experiences, make fresh connections with familiar spaces, consider the role of artist and writer in society and rediscover the value of family, community and country.
The exhibition celebrates contemporary printmaking from eighteen established and emerging Wales-based artists.

 Especially when the October winds

The original exhibition in 2003 marked the 50th anniversary of Dylan Thomas’ death. Twelve Wales-based Printmakers responded to Dylan Thomas’ poem, ‘especially when the October wind’ - a poem with particular resonance to the Swansea landscape, the town of his birth and source of inspiration.
