Kara Seaman was born in Aberdeen, and moved to Swansea in 2006.
She studied Graphic Fine Art at the University of East London, Graduating in 2002. Since moving to Swansea she has been involved in a variety of Community Art Projects and runs regular Printmaking workshops for Swansea Print Workshop. In 2009 she gained a post-graduate teaching certificate from the University of Wales in Newport and is currently looking for a teaching post within Further Education. Kara exhibit’s her work regularly in the U.K and beyond.
Kara’s work has been concerned with the built environment and documenting ways in which the city of Swansea changes gradually. Often she uses photographic imagery to convey this sense of change and new beginnings.
Most recently she has been turning her focus to bears and owls and other more natural settings, and by researching their particular histories and traits has been working ideas from sketchbook ideas, into final prints. Currently this theme is continuing in her printed work and is also transferring to small card collage work that she creates also.
