A number of SPW-led exhibitions have toured in Wales, the wider UK, and internationally, including Pakistan and USA attracting great reviews and building connections across the printmaking and wider artistic world.

In 2007, under the banner of the year-long project, Festival of Muslim Cultures – twenty-two Wales-based printmakers were represented in the exhibition Contemporary Welsh Printmakers in venues in Karachi and Lahore, Pakistan. 

In 2003, a collection of prints commemorating the 50th anniversary of Dylan Thomas’s death, toured widely and was shown at venues including Hay Festival of Literature, Theatre du Residence Palace, Brussels and The Chrysler Building New York.

Dylan Thomas’ work is celebrated annually in festivals and symposiums around the world, and the poet continues to be an inspiration for many other artists and writers.

Our two special exhibitions celebrating the poet, Dylan Thomas are available to tour, either as individual or ‘sister’ exhibitions.

especially when the October wind | 2003

This exhibition marked the 50th anniversary of Dylan Thomas’ death. Twelve Wales-based Printmakers responded to Dylan Thomas’ poem, ‘especially when the October wind’ – a poem with particular resonance to the Swansea landscape, the town of his birth and source of inspiration.

With an opening exhibition of the Dylan Thomas Prints at the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea, further exhibitions followed throughout Wales, in New York City, and Lahore, Pakistan.

Deialogau, Dylan Thomas Dialogues | 2014

This exhibition celebrated the centenary of the poet’s birth in 1914. Sixteen printmakers responded to a selection from the work of Dylan Thomas and that of two contemporary writers, previous winners of the internationally recognized, literary prize – Swansea University International Dylan Thomas Prize.

With an opening exhibition at the Ceri Richard’s Gallery, Taliesin Arts Centre, Swansea, it continued to tour across Wales.
